The Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia responsible for implementation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement and political system, Mr. Hazbi Lika, today (17.11.2017) hosted the political officer responsible for the Western Balkans in the service of the European Union, Mr. Antun Herceg.
At this meeting, Mr. Herceg and Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Lika initially discussed the great dynamics after the formation of the government and the progress of bilateral agreements with neighboring states that were formed in line with the coalition partner's priorities. Political officer, Mr. Herceg highlighted that the first steps of this governmental structure show a positive push for the country on the European path.
In parallel, the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Lika highlighted that positive steps have been taken towards consolidating of the priorities to create a multiethnic society, although there is a conglomerate of demands in the attempt to advance the rights of ethnic groups living in the Republic of Macedonia.
In addition, the interlocutors discussed the process of the Law on the Use of Languages in the Assembly as a concrete step that is also in line with the Analysis for Social Cohesion. Mr. Lika highlighted that the implementation period of this law will be extremely challenging, while at the same time it will work on the consolidation of the two institutions responsible for its implementation, respect and progress.
Finally, Mr. Herceg strongly encouraged Mr. Lika for continuity of governmental reforms, which will help in the integration of the Republic of Macedonia into the Euro-Atlantic path.
